I remember that Alan wrote 'Fools' and (together with Martin) 'Work Hard'.
Anybody know if he wrote something else for Depeche Mode??? They actually were pretty good b-sides.... |

He played more of the role of producer (music assembly, sample choices, direction, tech stuff etc.)
I though the one he received writing credits for were pretty good for their time. _________________ An angel lead me when I was blind... |

According to the sheet music, Get the Balance Right is solely (words and music) Martin Gore's.
You're right about Fools, though. If You Want is another. |

As we know, Martin Gore writes the bulk of the lyrics for DM.
Even though he is no longer in the band Alan played a HUGE part in the production and evolution of Depeche Mode's sound that we know today especially "live." Alan's musical background plus his natural talent helped forge the "Mode's" sound. Even though he is not officially credited on the albums, he definitely is and was the integral member of DM.
Officially, the following songs are either written or co-written by Alan.
Construction Time Again
"Two Minute Warning" and "The Landscape is Changing"
"Fools" - B-side to "Love in Itself," and "Work Hard" - B-Side to "Everything Counts" co wrote with MLG
Some Great Reward
"If You Want"
"In Your Memory" B-Side to "People Are People"
Black Celebration
B-Sides
"Black Day" is an acoustic version of "Black Celebration" sung by Martin Gore, and is co-written by him, Alan Wilder, and Daniel Miller.
"Christmas Island" was written by Martin Gore and Alan Wilder
Music for the Masses
Little 15 B-sides
"Stjarna" is written by Martin and Alan Wilder. "Moonlight Sonata" is written by Beethoven and performed(piano) by Alan Wilder.
I believe these cover the "Alan" songs, but more importantly he will be remembered for his musical efforts for these albums and tours. |
