Tears for Fears

I just saw them a couple of weeks ago...did anyone else see them on this tour? What did you think? I thought that their new material sounded really great live, and their old stuff sounded kind of cobbled together. I was kind of disappointed that "Pale Shelter", for instance, sounded dull and sloppy, but I kind of respect that fact that they care more about their new stuff. They played pretty much the whole new record, as well.

I have listened to their new album but I have been disappointed.
Most songs don't sound like Tears for Fears. Their old songs (Shout for example) were much better.

Yeah, I know what you mean. That's why I was ambivalent about the concert. I actually like the new album, especially if I pretend it's not a Tears for Fears record and listen on it's own merits. If I compare it to any of their first 3 albums that's a whole different story, but on it's own I think it's really good. Funny, too, that "shout" is my least favorite tune of theirs ever!

The new album sounds a bit like Beatles.

They've had the Beatlesque sound before so that's not new. For Me TFF has always been a band with only a few good songs per album. This one had maybe two in my opinion.

Just seemed kind of boring.

of all the other muical acts in the world, how is tears fof fears the only one on here with it's own topic? Thats like smearing a bit of crap on a big beautiful flower.

I remember an old video performance where they played Mad World 'live' on a UK TV show, half a dozen musicians, keyboards all over the place. Fascinating.

I really like the work TFF has done, especially some of the less-played songs from their first two albums. "Watch Me Bleed" and "Broken" are brilliant, IMHO.
